The Journey That Led to Bhor

Before 2006

Patna • Jamshedpur

Growing up surrounded by festivals, family gatherings, and recipes passed down through generations, food was never just food. It was how stories were shared, relationships were nurtured, and traditions came alive.

2006 – 2015

Bhubaneswar • Guwahati • Kolkata • Mumbai • Bangalore • Pune

Education, work, and new opportunities led to different cities across India. As life grew busier, visits home became fewer, and many of the traditions once woven into everyday life became occasional memories.

2016 – 2024

Manila • London • Vancouver • Santiago • Toronto

Living across continents brought new experiences and perspectives. Yet, thousands of miles away, it was often the aroma of a familiar dish or memories of festive celebrations that felt closest to home.

2024

A Realization

The farther the journey went, the clearer it became that many traditions survive only when they're practiced. And with every generation moving farther from home, the recipes, rituals, and stories that once brought families together risk being left behind.

2025

Looking Back for Answers

The search for answers led back to the kitchens and traditions of childhood. What seemed ordinary growing up revealed extraordinary wisdom, thoughtful ingredients, mindful preparation, and a way of living that cared for both people and nature.

2026

Bangalore • The Beginning of Bhor

What started as nostalgia became a responsibility. Bhor was born from a desire to preserve the authentic taste and spirit of Bihar—not simply by recreating recipes, but by carrying forward the memories, values, and wisdom they represent. Through generational recipes, traditional methods, and carefully chosen ingredients, Bhor brings a small piece of home to those who carry it in their hearts.

Today

Keeping Traditions Alive

Every pack of Bhor is a reminder that traditions don't survive in memories alone. They survive when they're shared, celebrated, and passed on to the next generation.

Not Just a Snack. A Standard We Set for Ourselves.

At Bhor, every ingredient and every process is chosen with intention, rooted in tradition, backed by purpose, and centered around your wellness.

Ingredients & Commitment

From tal mishri to gulkand and jaggery, every ingredient is thoughtfully selected for its natural benefits: no refined sugar, no shortcuts, just honesty in every bite.

More Than Just Taste

Why Bhor

1.
To Keep the Taste of Home Alive

Some flavours are more than recipes; they are memories of festivals, family gatherings, and moments spent together. We exist to keep those memories alive.

2.
To Help People Stay Connected to Their Roots

No matter how far life takes us, certain tastes have a way of bringing us back home. Bhor is our way of preserving that connection.

3.
To Carry Forward What Was Passed Down to Us

Every recipe holds the love, wisdom, and traditions of generations before us. We believe these stories deserve to be shared, not forgotten.

4.
To Preserve the Wisdom Hidden in Traditions

Long before wellness became a trend, our kitchens were guided by ingredients and practices refined over generations. From tal mishri to desi ghee, we honour the wisdom that made food nourishing, balanced, and joyful.

5.
To Live More Mindfully, Like We Once Did

Many of the sustainable choices the world is embracing today were already woven into our traditions. Small-batch preparation, mindful consumption, and thoughtful ingredients remind us that caring for ourselves and caring for nature can go hand in hand.
